Students show support for retaining recorded lectures
Strong support for the continuation of recorded lectures emerged in a survey of nearly 50,000 students across 25 colleges in Ireland, writes Katherine Donnelly for Independent.ie.The survey explored the impact of COVID-19 on students’ experience of higher education and the picture painted by their responses was mostly positive. Overall, students felt their colleges had done a good job in the switch to online and blended learning. More than 80% felt supported with ongoing effective and timely communication.
Students were asked about the positive elements of online and blended learning they would want to keep, and the dominant answer was “recorded lectures”. First years liked the accessibility of notes and lecture slides, while taught postgraduate students felt the benefit of less time spent commuting.
