Five million hold higher education degrees
The number of Taiwanese people with a college, university or other type of higher education degree has increased to five million in 2015, reports The China Post.According to the latest statistics released by the Ministry of the Interior on 12 March, as of the end of 2015, 42.68% of Taiwanese people are college or university degree holders, while 30.92% are high school or vocational high school graduates.
The percentage means some 5.06 million Taiwanese people have a college, university or other type of higher education degree, meaning a quarter of the country's population has received higher education. The ministry’s survey added that the overall percentage of the Taiwanese population aged 25-64 with a bachelor degree or higher stands at 45%. Compared with other countries, the percentage is higher than the average of 33% among member states of the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development, the ministry said.
