University urges students to look elsewhere
Overwhelmed by the huge number of candidates seeking admission annually, the University of Lagos has pleaded with parents to patronise other institutions in the country, writes Emmanuel Edukugho for Vanguard.Professor Olukayode Amund, dean of students affairs, told a mammoth gathering at the general meeting of the University of Lagos Parents' Forum last Thursday that they (parents) should send their children or wards to other universities as the institution was not the only one in the country.
"You should patronise other universities so as to reduce the pressure on the University of Lagos. Our carrying capacity is 8,200, but over 100,000 applicants were screened for admission."
He said there were several other universities looking for students to be admitted.
