UK: HSBC wins TARGETjob Award

The online poll indicates the bank - which performed relatively solidly during the credit crunch - is a favourite choice of employment for graduating students.
"Despite the recession, competition for the most talented graduates is as fierce as ever. HSBC should be delighted that, within their sector, graduates hold them in such high regard," said Chris Phillips, UK publishing director of GTI Media, which publishes TARGETjobs.
"We all know that they can be harsh critics. HSBC really are setting the standards for others to follow. As are all the other TARGETjobs Awards winners, voted for by thousands of students from the leading jobsite targetjobs.co.uk."
The awards were presented at a ceremony in London. They are decided on the basis of student votes for the most popular graduate recruiters in different sectors of work and are intended to reward companies for outstanding contributions to diversity, effective campaigns and websites.
TARGETjobs is an online database of jobs, employers and internships available to students and graduates in the UK. It received more than 80,000 votes from students and recent graduates as part of the selection process for the annual awards ceremony.
Other awards included those distributed among 20 sectors including charity and not-for-profit, construction and civil engineering, leisure and tourism, media and scientific research and development. Over 800 members of these and other sectors were in attendance at the awards ceremony.
Other winners included investment house Goldman Sachs, accounting firm PricewaterhouseCoopers, Amnesty International, Airbus, Procter & Gamble and Walt Disney.
