US: Peace Corps announces Top 25 volunteer-producing schools
The Peace Corps last week announced the top colleges and universities on their annual list of 'Peace Corps Top Colleges and Universities' for 2009. The University of Washington, George Washington University and University of Chicago top this year's list in three size-based rankings for undergraduate institutions, while Boston University was number one among graduate schools.For the third consecutive year, the University of Washington was top on the undergraduate list in the large schools category, with 104 alumni serving as Peace Corps volunteers. It was followed by the University of Colorado-Boulder and Michigan State University.
In the medium schools category, George Washington University captured the number one spot with a total of 57 alumni serving as volunteers. The University of California - Santa Cruz came in second, closely followed by American University.
Among small schools, the University of Chicago topped the list with 35 volunteers, followed by St Olaf College. Third place was shared by Middlebury College, Smith College, and the University of Puget Sound.
Boston University led the graduate schools list, with second place shared by New York University and Ohio State University.
