TUNISIA: New agency to promote research and innovation

A new national agency to promote research and innovation in Tunisia was established in August, under the supervision of the Ministry of Higher Education, Scientific Research and Technology, La Presse of Tunis reported.

With its headquarters in Tunis, the Agence Nationale de la Promotion de la Recherche et de l'Innovation will assume responsibilities including supporting the creation of networks and partnerships between innovative companies and industries, research organisations and official bodies; advice for businesses on their technology and innovation needs and problems; research funding assessments; guidance for research organisations on matters such as intellectual property and technology transfers; and expertise on acquiring, maintaining and operating major scientific facilities.
