NIGERIA: New university for Ondo

The National Universities Commission has given approval for the establishment of a specialised university to be called University of Science and Technology, in Okitipupa, Ondo State. This would bring to 93 the total number of universities in Nigeria and 32 state universities, reports AllAfrica.com
Chief Olusegun Agagu said Nigeria needed good quality graduates with the requisite knowledge to drive the country's economy so his government decided to establish a specialised rather than a regular university.

The institution would be smaller in size with a maximum of 5,000 students, and would start with three schools including science, information and communication technology and engineering.
